Sals has ruined us for every other pizza. We will never eat pizza from a chain restaurant again. Great quality, great staff, great value. Thank you, Sal!
The food was pretty good here. We loved the marinara sauce and the garlic rolls. My husband and I lived in New York for a couple of years and had some amazing pizzeria Italian food, NY style. Figured we would never find anything close to it in Indiana, but this place got as close as its gonna get for this area. So I would recommend.
Amazing authentic Italian food. Best in Indianapolis. Avoid the pricier 'legacy' restaurants that serve meatballs shipped in a box. For half the cost you can taste a bit of real Italy. I spoke to the owner who explained how the food is all made in house. They even grow their own tomatoes! Bring an appetite!
Sadly, this place has changed drastically. The food used to be out of this world, truly authentic handmade sauces. Now it's more like a food counter that you'd see in a Mall food court. The pizza is still pretty good but I cannot recommend any of the pasta or sauces. The folks working here were wonderful and we tipped them well. They work hard with what they've got, but this is simply no longer the Sal's of old.
We used to really like this place a few years ago. However, the quality of the food has gone downhill quite a bit. It reminds me of the quality you'd find at the pizza place in your local mall's food court, only not as good. We had a spinach lasagna, slice of cheese pizza, chicken parm, an order of garlic rolls and a side salad between the four of us. The only thing we cared for were the garlic rolls, and even those were pretty greasy and tasted as though they had been made a few days ago and reheated a few times - not great. Definitely won't be returning.
